Catnip for Hair

Several people have used Catnip in their hair with great results.  It is mainly used as a conditioner alternative.  But the “side affects” are: reduced split ends (after a while of use there are almost no splits), increased hair thickness, increased hair quantity (in some), and better hair quality all around.  It also leaves a little [...]

Conditioner Only – Week 9

Last week I talked about how I thought my scalp condition had started to come back.  Well now I’m sure it has.  My scalp is red, has flakes, and is really itchy.  I didn’t take a second shower last week to give my scalp some time off.  I’m not sure if all conditioners are the problem, [...]

Conditioner Only – Week 8

I realized that I didn’t do my second post last week.  But it was pretty much the same as the first one, so it’s no big deal.
This week:
Routine:   Put lots of Pantene’s Beautiful Lengths ‘dish on my dry hair and let that sit for 20 minutes, then got in the shower and rinsed it out.  [...]

Conditioner Only – Week 7

Because of my dry ends I put coconut oil (a great moisturizer) on my hair, and left it in for about 24 hours before my shower.
Routine:   I put Pantene’s Beautiful Lengths ‘dish on my dry hair, left it on for 20 minutes then got in the shower and rinsed it out.  I then put on a second, [...]

Conditioner Only – Week 6 – part 2

Routine:   Loaded my dry hair down with Pantene Beautiful Lengths ‘dish.  Left it on for an hour (which I didn’t plan to do, but it just happened that way), then I got in the shower and rinsed it out.
Results:   My hair is soft and silky, but not fantastic.  It still feels dry at the ends [...]

Conditioner Only – Week 5 – part 2

Routine:   Put lots of Pantene (Texturizing) ’dish on my dry hair, left it on for an hour, then got in the shower and rinsed it out.  Then I applied a Pantene product called Time-Renewal Replenishing Mask to the “tassels” of my hair, left it on for 5+ minutes (which is recommended) and then rinsed it out.
Results:   Nice [...]

Conditioner Only – Week 5

I colored my hair yesterday for the first time in 6+ months.  But before I colored I did a Baking Soda wash to make sure I got my hair totally clean.  I’ve found that if your hair isn’t clean (and conditioner free) the color doesn’t stick as well.  Which makes sense when you think about [...]

Conditioner Only – Week 4

I didn’t take a shower on sunday, but took it last night (monday) in stead.
Routine:   Left the ‘dish on my hair for over 2 hours.  I didn’t plan to do it that way, but that’s the way it happened.  I didn’t do a second application, so it was just rinsing out the first one.
Results:   My hair [...]

Conditioner Only – Week 3 – part 2

Routine:   Put a bunch of Mane & Tail (M&T) on my hair, left it on for an hour, then rinsed it out.  Applied a second application and rinsed that out.
Results:   Really soft, silky hair!  My hair is a slight (and I do mean slight) bit fly-away but it’s not that bad.  My hair still doesn’t [...]

Conditioner Only – Week 3

Routine:  Put lots of the Mane & Tail ‘dish on my dry hair, left it on for 45 minutes, then got in the shower and rinsed it out.  Then I put on the second application and massaged that around for a few minutes, then rinsed it out.
Results:   My hair is really soft and silky feeling.  [...]

Conditioner Only – Week 2 – part 2

Routine:   Put lots of ‘dish on my dry hair, left it on for about an hour, then got in the shower and rinsed it out.  Then I put in more ‘dish, massaged that around for a few minutes, then rinsed it out.
Results:   Soft hair, but crunchy ends.  It seems like if I keep my hair [...]

Conditioner Only – Week 2

Routine:   Put a large amount of ‘dish on my hair for 45 minutes, then jumped in the shower and rinsed it out and did another application.  I massaged that application around for a minute or two, then rinsed that out.
Results:   The bulk of my hair is pretty soft, but the ends are still dry.  I [...]
